I am off duty this weekend. (You know, from that 24 a day job). I am taking a little road trip to go and visit my friend Christy. And when I say friend, I mean MY friend. Not my kid's friend's mom. Christy is my friend and we could talk for hours. In fact I have a few friends that I no longer live near that I don't talk to very often on the phone because when we do, I have to have about 2 hours carved out of my day in order to say all we need to say (you know who you are).
I am looking forward to our time together. I have been thinking I would go and we could "can" for a few days (she is really good at that). But this visit will include a trip to a homeschooling expo/conference. I am really looking forward to some encouragement in the homeschooling department for school is starting just around the corner.
One of the things I am going to check out is My Father's World for school next year. I have several friends who use it and really like it and I have been looking at it for awhile now. That might be my big purchase for the upcoming school year.
I'll be back online in a few days. Hope you have a great weekend.

I hope you have a wonderful, blessing-filled time with your friend!
I think it's great that your homeschool conference is at this time of the year. It makes more sense that having in in May (like in my state). I'd rather get pumped up right before I begin a new year instead of at the start of summer. Have a great time.
Have fun! I heard a speaker from My Father's World about 3 years ago, and was very impressed.
Have an awesome time and a great trip. School IS just around the corner, isn't it?!
Have fun!
So glad you could get away...you totally need that every once in awhile...hope it was refreshing and challenging...and gave you that extra "umph" for the school year ahead.
I am sure your sweet family will appreciate you even more after you've been gone a couple of days.
Thanks for validating my thoughts Cris. It is so nice when someone else gets what I'm trying to say!
My crazy Christian neighbour's (as opposed to the Christian Neighbour) not-at-all crazy wife uses MFW to homeschool their 3 kids, ages 9 to 17. They like it, though she finds some of the areas lacking, but nothing you can't makei up with some reading and a chemistry set.
Unfortunately they just realized that their eldest won't be eligible for the Bagrut (matriculation exams), so she will have to go to the States for college as opposed to Tel Aviv Uni. She shouldn't have problems getting in a good Christian college though. So from what they say it is a lovely curriculum to use.
Thanks again for a great weekend! I love just being able to let me hair down, be real and laugh until it hurts! We are defiently doing this again next year! Hope to see you guys this fall! I LOVE being your friend!
What fun to be you, not mom, or wife, but YOU!! I hope you have a great time at the conference!! How exciting!
