Advent

I really wanted to make the transition this Christmas season to celebrating Advent. I went to an Advent workshop a few weeks ago to learn more about how to help your family celebrate Advent, and the coming of Christ. Though this year is not the year to jump in all the way and go over the top (we are planning on moving), I still wanted to begin this tradition. So with my simple Advent wreath and my already prepared Advent family devotionals, we are beginning a new tradition that I hope to add to as the years go by. A helpful site to make it easy if you are interested in checking out Advent supplies, click HERE. We are preparing our hearts to focus on Christ this Christmas season.

This first week of Advent, we light the first candle ~ the candle of hope. We have hope in our sovereign God who is the maker of heaven and earth. Hope in our savior Jesus Christ.

Thank you for sharing this . It is something that we have considered doing in years past.

Cris,
Any word on the appraisal yet? Praying it is MORE than enough!

I just found our advent wreath...we have one in Japan that we do each year too. t is always a favorite decoration each year. It is a great time to sit down and talk about the TRUE meaning of Christmas. I meant to look at your daily advent devotional. Is it on the site? We just have the once a week talk to read. At church last week the pastor said we should greet each other "Happy Advent" instead of "Happy Holidays". Celebrating the advent-coming of Christ and looking for His coming again.

Advent is really important in our house.

Here's another thing we do. We put up the creche - just the stable and animals. Then on Christmas Eve we add Mary and Joseph. On Christmas morning the first child up gets to add baby Jesus to the manger. Then through the twelve days of Christmas - up through epiphany - we move the three Kings around the house, closer and closer to the stable. They arrive on Epiphany.
