The year of celebrations

After too many holidays and birthdays and celebrations getting the bare minimum (we have had a rough 2 years), we are dubbing this the YEAR OF CELEBRATIONS. I have vowed to celebrate each season with a party of some sort. This Valentine's party was our first one and it really was enjoyable for the girls.
Even though we are in a temporary home, we were determined to still have a party with the girls new friends (all these girls have a Daddy that work with Chuck).

We had lunch together and lots of crafts. The girls made Valentine's for their friends and families with the use of die cuts and lots of doilies. We also made lip gloss and I posted those pictures on another blog that I am part of. If you are interested in that post go HERE.

We also made heart shaped crayons (so easy and really cute). They almost look like tie die.
We have made these before but these turned out extra cute.

I am going to really make the effort to foster friendships with these kind of friends. I believe that it takes the time and effort for friendships to grow and I want to encourage the kids in good friendships. We may party the year away with these same 5 girls, since it is the YEAR OF CELEBRATIONS. =)

Congratulations on the year of celebrations! The party looks like such a delight, just the right start for the year. Congratulations on the new venture with the other blog. I think you'll have fun posting there.

This reminds me of a girls' club I started at church when Lydia was that age. We had SO MUCH fun with a gathering a month I got quite a few ideas from Martha Stewart. And part of it was rather like Home Ec (one really fun session, we made brownies from four very different recipes, for example).

Have fun! You make me want to do this for Anastasia...

I think that's a great idea! You and your girls will have a ball and make lots of memories. At the end of the year you could make an album on Snapfish or Shutterfly of all the pictures you took at your celebrations and parties.

Our nice party valentines arrived.
Thank you girls. They were very special.

Now I am having a post valentine party. There will be 55 of us on Saturday night. I went to a "How to fold Napkins" site. Check it out. Bought all of the candy prizes at 75% off today. Yeah!

Oh, you have to tell me what you baked the crayons in. Are those silicone cups or paper?

We've got a whole plastic bin of broken crayons I've been saving for a project just like this!

I used those silicone baking cups. I tried at first to use those little heart shaped ice cube trays, but they melted. I have used the paper cups before and the wax gets all over the muffin cup holders.
I kind of thought I would designate the silicone cups just for crayons.

The post that gives the instructions is here

I love this post and the idea of a year of celebrations. You are such a creative momma Cris! Your girls are so blessed to have a hands on mother like you.

Although I have been absent from the blog world for the past few weeks (that ends tonight), I have kept up with your posts and have to restate what a blessing you and your words are to my life. Thank you for your friendship and prayers.
