Underestimated

I believe I have been underestimating my dishwasher. I am the type to wash the dishes pretty thoroughly before I load the dishwasher. I have learned in the past (with other dishwashers) that this was a necessary step. Today, however, I was in a hurry and needed to get it loaded and started before we left the house. You know when a house is on the market, it must be spotless all the time.

So...I quickly shoved everything in it and did NOT rinse from last nights snacky mess. Dried cheese and all. Alas, everything came out spotless. No mess left behind. No dried on food. Nothing. It was just as good as if I had spent the time pre-cleaning.

So, I think I have been underestimating my dishwasher. I might even owe it an apology for not believing in it. And look at all the time I can save by not pre-washing (if I can retrain myself, that is).

I too thought maybe I was underestimating my dishwasher - just last weekend in fact.

I'm disappointed to say mine thoroughly disappointed me. Sadly, I am back to rinsing again.

What brand do you have? Please congratulate her for me (if she is a her). You must be so proud!

What an exciting and unexpected surprise! My MIL had a very nice and expensive dishwasher. It wouldn't wash for anything. Her husband bought her another really expensive one to replace it. It wouldn't work either. He almost threw it out too! Come to find out, she was setting it to super-light-duty. How she wished she hadn't trashed the first one.

Oh, yes....the days of having to keep the house immaculate at all times. Have fun with that one!

Let me know if you really can keep from pre washing those dishes. I think it would be hard!

I pre-wash too. Force of habit. Maybe I should give the dishwasher a chance...

My dishwasher needs to talk to your dishwasher!

And to think I've been training my children to "clean" the dishes before loading them in the dishwasher. Um...they really do work? Shhhh...keep it a secret!

She is a Kenmore Elite (sure she is a "she" -that's for you salzwedle family). The features that I drew me to her...stainless interior, turbo jets in the back for the really stuck on gunk (I haven't even used the turbo jets yet) and the adjustable upper rack that moves up or down, depending on the need. And to make her GREEN (it is earth week, isn't it?) she has a "smart wash" setting that uses less energy and water. She senses how dirty the dishes are and adjusts accordingly.

(Just giving props where props are due).

I never pre-rinse - it drives Clark crazy! He always rinses off(when he helps out!) - I figure if I have to rinse that much, I may as well wash by hand!

I have no dishwasher--I am the dishwasher in my family most of the time. BUT--my feet have been really giving me trouble and so my husband has taken over the dishes after dinner. I too have underestimated my dishwasher. He's much better than he was years ago. I'm working on training up two more dishwashers for the morning and noon dishes.

Years ago we saw a piece of framed embroidery hanging in the Red Rocker Inn in NC that read, "No Woman Ever Shot a Man While He Was Doing the Dishes."

We also completely clean our dishes before loading them in the dishwasher. We recently upgraded ours, so maybe I will get brave and try to just throw the dishes in dirty! Thinking about it right now though, I think it will be very hard for me.

We've been in our house for nearly 8 years and some wise person told me back then that newere dishwashers were so good that no pre-washing was needed... I took heed to that great advice and could never be accused of underestimating ours... she's been used to her full capacity for all these years and it's a rare spot of gunk that she doesn't get clean.
