I never thought to look in the tub

This morning, the girls wanted me to find their neat hideout. I walked through the house and couldn't find them. I looked in the usual spots (closets, nooks, and such). I finally did my whoop (like a mama whooping crane) to call out to them ~ and they always respond with "whoop whoop whoop". I think I just demonstrated another family oddity ~ I bet not many of you whoop to your kids. Try it, it's kind of fun. When they whooped back to me I knew they were in the bathroom. Ta-daa. I looked behind the shower curtain and found their hide out. There they were reading and having fun. I never thought to look in the tub.

We didn't whoop as a family, we would hoo hoo in a high pitch to locate each other in our home or anywhere else.

Looks like a fun place to hang out!

I thought of you yesterday when I dropped my son off at school. There was a girl walking past our van that looked just like Tally - I am not kidding you when I say they could have been twins.

Happy Whooping!

I might whoop my kids...but not whoop at them, LOL. I've never found my kids in the tub, but frequently in the emptied out toy box.

I love the way they make a little cozy place.

I yoo-hoo for children.

We whistle for the cats as if they were dogs, and say, "Here, boy!" Back years ago my husband (from a doggy-lovin' family) said he could just not sing-song, "Here kitty kitty."

That is so cute!
I love the whooping--my husband's family has a special whistle. We don't have anything but I see that it could be helpful.

Tally and Tissy - your creativity is fantastic! You are constantly thinking and working on new and different things to do and play! The tub looks cozy! Love you lots!

Cute! I used to love to hang out in the bathroom when I was a kid. I would pretend that I had to live in there and that I had a little window where food was delivered and a whole library of books.
p.s. I am trying to figure out some girl toys for Lark-she's a bit young I know-but she has outgrown her gender neutral baby toys and I think she would like some girl stuff but I don't know where to start. I have been eyeing that Calico Critters stuff-I know she's a bit young-but I think she might like it. You'll have to do a post...

I love the bathtub idea! When I was in 5th grade we had an old-fahioned claw-foot bathtub in our classroom full of pillows and kids could go in there and read. You guys just brought back memories, now I want my kids to do that!

I want a big clawfoot bathtub for my kids to read in! one for each of them! J/K

Whooping- our tradition is very similar but much more militaristic. In the Army when one person calls "Report!" and the other calls out "Reports!" and so on so that you can locate each other or at least know they are still alive.

We used to do this when our young kids were in the tub and we were out of the room, if they could return the call we knew they were still above water! Fond memories.
