Let me challenge you once again...

I have (like many others) avoided talking politics on my blog here...it is more than opening a can of worms...(I have been following a few blogs that are hot in the political debates). So I will refrain from sharing all of my political opinions and I will try and keep most of them to myself. But, I have no problem entreating you to get into the Word of God. I have been part of Precepts studies this past year and it has been a HUGE influence in my life. I was part of a Bible study group at a local church last year and I enjoyed (and yet was challenged) with my studies in the book of Daniel. I am hooked on inductive studies. After the class in Daniel ended, I went to the Precepts web site and down loaded their free study titled Life in the Spirit. I had noticed that there was a show on TV titled Precepts and I wondered if it was Kay Aurthur speaking. I recorded it and quickly realized that it coincided with the free study that I had downloaded. It is like having your own Bible study right there in your own home. (Can you tell I am excited??) I have really enjoyed doing my studies on my own and then watching the "video" that goes with each lesson.

It takes a little bit of time but I am constantly challenged and encouraged. I love that it has me deep in the word (yet if I am a bit confused on something, the TV lesson helps clarify). It is like Bible college right in my own home (and for free). I am just finishing up the study on Ephesians and again...challenged and encouraged. I have been challenged to live a life worthy of the calling.

So, why am I blogging this? There is a new study starting this week and with all the political talk going on (and this being a huge election year) the title of the study intrigued me. America at the Crossroads. I just downloaded the new study (click HERE to get started) and I am excited about what was included. A 10 lesson study (pretty short), a copy of the Constitution of the United States, a copy of How to Pick a President ~Why virtue trumps policy, and the observation worksheets (scripture texts to mark while doing your study).

Just a quick "housekeeping" on getting this free download ~ you have to log in with a user name and password. (***you find the free downloads under broadcasts once you have logged in***) For the record, Precepts doesn't sell your email and they don't solicit you for money. When you enter your location you can find out where you can watch the lessons on TV or listen to them on the radio. I record it each day (just a half hour show) on The Good Life station. I did a little research, you can also watch the lesson online (this link HERE) if you have high speed internet (though you have to stay current ~you can only archive about 2 or 3 lessons).

So, my dear friends. I want to encourage you to give it a try. I am hopeful that I learn things about Godly leadership and praying for our country. Just a few titles of the lessons to wet the appetite --

  • The Nation at the Crossroads
  • "God Bless America?"
  • The Nation that Turns its Back on God
  • If a Country Sins...
  • Voting God's Standards!
I hope that I am able to have Biblical wisdom to back up my beliefs and be an informed citizen and a Godly woman. So, let me challenge you...join me. (click HERE)

Yes! Yes! YES!!! I'll join you. Ever since getting back from Deeper Still in Atlanta, hearing Kay speak about this very thing I have wanted to do this study. Let me know when you are starting and how we could make it a "group" thing....sharing our thoughts and so on...

OK... you've sucessfully challenged me. I've gone online and printed everything out... now keep encouraging me to actually follow through and do the study. Thanks for telling me about it... perfect timing considering the upcoming election. Love that clothesline... I always knew you had a little WT in you all this time (haha)

I'm gonna check out the Precepts BIble study you all have been talking about. I love inductive Bible study and we do it at church, but I usually just read my Bible at home.

Yea...I am so glad that someone is going to join me. Good for you Stacia that you have printed it and are ready to go. Rachel, I am thrilled that you are interested too. Print it out. I think it starts on Monday for TV and radio. Like I said you can also watch the lesson on line. Let me get working on something that lets us do this together online as a "group" thing. So glad to walk with my dear sisters in a deeper walk.

=)

Thank you for this! God has really been drawing me into digging deeper into His word lately. I'm yearning for more of Him. I'm attending a Women of Faith event this weekend and although I will desperately miss my family I can't wait just to be in His presence without the distractions of being mommy for 2 days! I am going to check out this site...thanks again!!

OK - me too. I'll try to watch on line as I don't think I have access to radio or TV - I'll look into this tonight or tomorrow. So excited that you are excited about this and the inductive study.

I would love to do that but there is no way I can with the other Precepts one! I may have to check it out anyway. It sounds great! Just what we need right now.

I think I might give it a try. I, like Tiffany & others am in the middle of another Precept study (& I am a Precept newbie) so i am not sure i will be able to do it in its entirety but I am going to check it out and maybe at least follow along loosely if that is OK.

Inductive Bible study...I think you are a Calvary Chapel girl at heart!!! We just started the gospel of John and it is so good!

I know I'm a little late, but I just got online and started the study. I'm loving it. She is awesome! I've never done a Precepts study, but it's really neat. We're studying a similar topic in our Sunday school class, and she brings up excellent points for discussion. Thanks!
