Most magical place on earth (?)

Just a week ago we had the privilege to enjoy a day at the Magic Kingdom. It was a LOAD of fun and I have the pics to prove it. (Again, disclaimer on too many pictures. Chuck hasn't even seen these yet, so enjoy sweetie)

We were given passes for the day as a gift and it was a great last hurrah as a family before Chuck left for his new job. I just have to say...we know how to do Disney. For starters, we walk fast (I learned that from my dad). The average Disney visitor walks about 8.5 miles a day. No wonder my feet were sore and I had the Disney hangover. We move quickly around those families that just stand around waiting for the crying child to "get over the fit" and pick up the souvenir.

We pack snacks and water and get a locker. I need to bring a special drink for Tissy and I pack it in a small cooler with ice and ride the train back to pick it up half way through the day. Wear a back pack full of what we need. If you know me at all, I am prepared. I have the essentials in the back pack. We nip the "can we buy this" before it begins. We let the girls get these hats a few trips ago and they wear them every time. We skip seeing the characters. We did that the first time but we don't need to see them every time. It takes a LOT of time to do that. And we divide and conquer. Chuck and Tally hit the big coasters while Tissy and I do some mellow things.

We did have a great time and it was a blessing to enjoy our time together. I am so grateful that we have good spirited kids that are enjoyable to be with on a day like this. We did have a magical time.

Cris, Love the pics. And I know the walk fast thing too. Carl does it very well. Theme parks are an aerobic event for our family. We don't miss anything.

Wow.. that looks like a LOT of FUN! You can tell the bond you have with your children. They always look SO HAPPY and so LOVED!

I love how you expressed that you keep your kids "under control." (Unlike the parents that stand in line arguing with their children) I've only recently learned to do that. GOD blessed me with a friend that has FOUR children and they ALL obey her IMMEDIATELY and without grumbling and complaining. She and her husband just plain don't allow it. The kids ALREADY know they can't get away with it.. so when they're asked to do something, they SMILE and do it! (Yes, with a HAPPY HEART!) This friend told me to do the same. To EXPECT, even DEMAND MORE from them. They have to learn to do this as adults, why NOT as children? It looks like you've already figured that out. What a BLESSED Mommy you are! (I only hate it took me so long to learn it - there would've been MANY YEARS of enjoying my children, rather than SCREAMING at them had I applied biblical principle then)

Anyway.. I just wanted to applaud you for taking charge and deciding to be Mom & Dad BEFORE hand rather than trying to be "friends." (Yes, we can do both, but it's SO MUCH easier when they're actually likeable! Hehe...)

Alrighty.. I didn't mean to leave you a book.. =-) I've missed all of you, my blogging buddies, and have been trying to get caught up on visiting today.

I hope you're having a WONDERFUL week - LOVE YA! ;-)

I'm sure Dad will be walking fast "through those pearly gates" and on the "streets of gold!" He is trying to slow down, but I'm still several steps behind him most of the time. Whew! It's been a ride - sort of like one at Magic Kingdom- and I've loved it! Glad you had such a great time. Yea!! to Tissy and Tally for being such good sports!

I love "doing Disney" especially when we can do it cheap. Once we were eating our packed lunch out of cooler and watching families spend $$ on park food. With just a little planning, Disney can be a Magical Place.

Hey I wrote you a comment, but I think it didn't sent to you...I'll write it again...I am so glad you had a great time. Isn't God good to give you a fun memory before Chuck leaves. We still laugh about the memory of one of our kids falling asleep on the floor taking off his shoes after a DisneyLand trip. We even took a picture. It's was totally how we all felt. Gotta run (literally) to get it all in. Totally laughed about your comment mom, running after dad...ha ha We remember, we remember! Now I am trying to keep up with Tim's long legs.

Cris,

How are you hanging in this week? I've been praying for you, the girls, and Chuck.

Stacia,

Thanks for asking. We are doing fine this week. Now it has been only 5 days so far. I can do that pretty easily. But if it lingers on for 5 weeks...well, that may be another story.

Believing that it won't take that long. And praying for God's perfect timing.

We spent the day at Disney yesterday and I'm always surprised at how many tantrums I witness. I agree that it is a lot easier to have your expectations and not have to deal with that. We almost always have really pleasant fun days when we go to Disney and yesterday was one of them. Check out my blog for our pictures.
And--I love when you have a post with lots of pictures--don't apologize!!

I miss Disney. I could set up shop in there. During the double storms of 2004 we went to the economy version of hotels in Disney. We never even went to the parks and we still had a good time.

Well that was before I injured my knee that herniated discs in my back. So there is no speed-walking in Disney, or anywhere for that matter. I would be happy to to be able to stand upright...for that matter.

I know you can do a wheelchair, but I feel like I am holding my family back. But if that is the only way to go, then so be it.

Glad you had a great time. I am jealous...in a good way!
