My husband loves maps, and will not use our built in GPS. In fact, whenever we use it on trips, it either gets us lost, or takes us on a very long round about way. Maps are fun to dream and plan over.
We do not own a GPS, but anytime we are going somewhere out of our comfort zone I borrow my moms. I actually would love to have one - the Christmas list is a good idea!
i don't have one either... just hasn't made it to the top of my list. My hubby could probably use one, but he doesn't even have a cell phone -- a bit of a ludite! No way would he use a GPS... He just likes getting lost!
Blessing!
I'll also invite you to swing by if you have the chance today -- I host a weekly carnival on JOY and I'm betting you might have some of that to share!
My mom got me one when we moved and I was very thankful. I couldn't focus on where I needed to go with the two little ones. It does make you lazy though in some ways and you cannot always trust it. Our house doesn't even show up on a GPS. There are a lot of adv and disadv to it.
We do not have a GPS.... no DVR or texting on the phone :) I do however think I would like to have a GPS I always print out on mapquest and have one the kids direct me :)
I LOVE my GPS!!!! But I didn't use it as much back home in MI. Now since we have moved to D.C. temporarily I have almost had to have it. It has been a huge help in finding parks, libraries, grocery stores that are hard to find in a HUGE city.
I liked it back in Michigan, but I knew most every where I needed to go. When you are with AGRESSIVE drivers and LARGE buildings, I highly recommend it : )
My sessions a couple of years ago in our Tuesay co-op was teaching map skills. I cannot stand to get lost. It scares me, it makes me mad, it aggravates me to know end. To me, a good map will get you far.
We've had our sailing GPS for several years. A small but very useful and appropriate GPS...and we just bought one this week for our traveling around on land. It is another way for us to compensate as we get older. We got lost last Sunday night - looking for someone's house. It was frustrating and embarassing. We also use google maps and our trusty Rand McNally is dog eared and falling apart.
With all the traveling Thomas does, he ended up getting one for work this year, and we have been able to enjoy using it on trips, etc. I love it. It is not perfect - but very helpful!
I don't have one either....but the other night, in the dark when I was late picking up Zhen from his friend's house in a contiguous city, and was just trying to operate by the google map directions....I REALLY wanted one!

I still love maps. Not a big fan of the GPS... You are not alone! T
NO GPS here, we print off google maps anytime we aren't sure about where we are going. :)

You are not the last.
I am wondering if it is a visual thing. I love to see the whole map and the entire route.
Glad to know that I am not the last one. When I realized that both sets of grandparents owned one, I was beginning to wonder. =)
No GPS here. I have a big laminated atlas of the area I live in... I use it when it makes sense and I love google maps too!
No GPS in either of our two vehicles! But I do use MapQuest a lot instead of pulling out a road map - much easier!

Nope, no GPS here either however I will admit that I really should have one! I am soooo directionally challenged! LOL!
Didn't use gps till I moved to Israel. I couldn't live without it now.

No GPS here, but we make good use of Google Maps. :)

We don't have one either...but we would love to have one. Especially in Japan with all the little no-named roads, terribly confusing.

I still prefer maps- old fashion in that way. Garmin has gotten me lost a handful of times and I just can't rely on her.
