Boy, did I NEED that phone!!!!

If you read my previous post you saw that Chuck ended up running my cell phone home to me yesterday. Only God knew that I would need it for an emergency. So...here is the story.

The girls were playing in the driveway eagerly anticipating Daddy's arrival (he had a date with Tally). Tissy was pushing a dolly stroller (in yard boots mind you) and Tally was riding her scooter behind her. Well, you can picture that the scooter goes faster than the 7 year old in rubber boots. Tissy fell and didn't break the fall with anything other than her face (her hands were busy taking care of that dolly stroller). I was working in the garden and heard the screaming and ran to find Tissy's face banged up and a mouth full of blood. She broke her front tooth off and cracked the other one. She passed out in my arms as I carried her to the house.

I wasn't able to get a hold of her dentist right away and being concerned about her head injury, thought we should check it out. We spent the next 5 hours in the ER making sure she didn't break her nose or get a concussion. Oh the ER waiting room. Frightening enough to scare small children (that is besides the point).

With the OK from the doctor (CT scan and multiple x-rays later) and after talking with the dentist (who is wonderful BTW), we got her cleaned up and a little pain killer and we were good to go. I hope she will sleep in this morning and quickly recover (prayers appreciated).

A quick shot of tucking her into bed after midnight. (Notice the invitation pillow under her head.)
Here she is showing her broken tooth and the bottom picture is how she looks this morning. Poor thing.

Poor thing! She sure looks like she took a big fall. I am sorry Cris. I think the hardest thing about being a Mom is seeing our kids hurt. Saying prayers today for sure....

My first reaction, Oh my goodness, poor thing!-So glad you had your phone! Kudos to you for keeping a level head. I get faint at the sight of blood and worry how I would handle it if we had an emergency like that and my husband weren't home.

I'm so sorry this has happened. Kendra did the same thing two years ago.She was on her scooter and fell forward. Her teeth hit the pavement. Both front permanent teeth were broken. It was the worst. The dentist had to do some work. Seeing pictures of Tristen brought back memories.I hope you heal fast Tristen. We understand your pain.

My boys have done stuff like that more times than I can count, but sweet Tissy :( We send love and prayers for a speedy recovery. Sorry this nurse friend wasn't closer to be of help. The boys said ice cream always helps them heal faster!

We're so sorry you got hurt, Tissy. Feel better soon, okay? Cris--we would like the name of the pedi-dentist please!

Poor little thing. We are praying for you Tristen. I am so sorry to hear about your accident. I am sure you were really worried, stressed and exhausted by the whole ordeal. And does Tally feel bad? Like it was her fault? Praying for quick feeling and grace and strength...assuming that was her adult teeth? Will she go to the dentist soon?

Tissy is feeling a little bit better. She spent the whole day on the couch in her jammies and just rested yesterday. We see her dentist on Monday and start the tooth repair then.

Needless to say we didn't do any school yesterday and both girls needed the down time. So glad that we have that as an option.

Thanks for all your prayers and concerns.

AW! Poor thing! I hope she's feeling better and will bounce back fast. It always baffles me how quickly something like that can happen. One minute they are playing and all of a sudden you have an emergency on your hands. I will be sure to pray for her... and you! My goodness, to have to sit in the ER and deal with all that. One of the scariest things for Mom too (not just "small children" as you wisely noted ;) )

Sounds eerily like our week-end. Tissy and TJ can compare facial injuries. I am glad you got such a quick appt. with a dentist. When TJ broke his tooth, it was a good 2 weeks before they got him in (of course, he was 18 months old, so we had to see a specialist).

Poor darling! That must have taken it out of you, too!

OUCH!
Truly a girl after my own heart though...I was constantly banged up as a little girl and now my 7 yo is following suit.
Hope she's feeling better by now!
