I feel guilty...

...for not composting our kitchen scraps and bunny litter. Once you are so aware of how easy it is to compost, it is hard to throw a banana peel in the trash. I thought it was just me so I asked the girls if they felt the same and they both said YES.

So, I guess composting has become more of a habit than I thought. And we are missing our garden and composting bins. Once we are settled, we will have to get started on a composting area. And I am sure composting in the cold will be more difficult.
In case you missed my other posts on composting, this is how I started (HERE). Here are the benefits of composting (HERE). And here are some fun things that I "found" in my compost piles (HERE).

On a different note...there is no news on the house. This short sale was not why we chose this house and it is taking longer than anticipated. We are waiting on it for a little bit, but if it continues to proceed at this slow pace, we will have to find something else (we can only "camp" out here until March). Not to mention, we need to get settled. We are praying for God's will to be done and either continue to open the door on this house, or close it and lead us in another direction.

I kept throwing the compost stuff in the pile (literally a pile as we have no bin or enclosure)until the snow piled up and we couldn't put it there anynmore.. I can't stand just tossing it out..
What's under the ice is preserved until the weather warms up... some people I know have a bin with a cover and clean the snow off so they can add stuff to wait for spring, might be a goal for this year....

It feels funny to me to throw things out at the temple or when visiting. My compost has been a success!

I remember feeling the same way about recycling when we left California. Such a big part of our life in CA - and not so important in other places.

I just took our clementine peels home from the park yesterday so we could compost them...see you got me hooked not only on bread but on composting too!

I can relate to the idea of thinking of taking things home to compost. I have taken goodies home to the rabbit if we are out and they are just going to throw away greens that she would love.

I have even taken home plastic water bottles from a birthday party to recycle. So, I could see myself taking home the orange peels to toss in the compost pile. I think I draw the line at helping myself to someones coffee grinds at their house. I need to draw the line somewhere. =)

OK, now that it has appeared twice in this blog, I'll admit it: I am the Mommy who was throwing in the trash perfectly recyclable plastic water bottles (12 bottles - for 12 little fairies in painted faces and various costumes, including one roller-skating fairy). Sigh...my reputation is trashed - or do you think it can be recycled?

Sorry it has been hard to camp out. It is always hard to not be in your own place for too long. We'll keep praying that God clearly directs you in this whole house thing.

Now that everyone is confessing...I have collected the plastic cups (you know the nice big, sturdy ones) from a party, taken them home and run them through the dishwaher to reuse!! sshhhh
