Enjoying the ride

I was reminded by a friend to just enjoy the ride. I remember telling that to Tally when she was little and we were driving up the mountains in California. "Just enjoy the ride." She was tired and uncomfortable and wanted to get out of her car-seat. She was missing the beautiful drive. The huge trees and wildlife along the way and she didn't understand that we were just a few miles from our destination, a cabin on the lake. She started to cry and said, "I am not enjoying the ride."

Somehow, I am doing the same thing. God knows where I am going and he is gently nudging me to "Enjoy the ride." I read this next passage this morning and wanted to share it. I got this from biblegateway.com . This is from Psalm 119, The Message version.

33-40 God, teach me lessons for living
so I can stay the course.
Give me insight so I can do what you tell me—
my whole life one long, obedient response.
Guide me down the road of your commandments;
I love traveling this freeway!
Give me a bent for your words of wisdom,
and not for piling up loot.
Divert my eyes from toys and trinkets,
invigorate me on the pilgrim way.
Affirm your promises to me—
promises made to all who fear you.
Deflect the harsh words of my critics—
but what you say is always so good.
See how hungry I am for your counsel;
preserve my life through your righteous ways!

I love this version. It is very powerful.

Yes, we all need to enjoy the ride. I think I am finally at a place where I am.
