In the spirit of keeping it real

A few weeks ago I asked if you could go to bed with dishes in the sink. (HERE) I was checking my email this morning and I just got up to put on a pot of tea and saw this.

We so often want to put our best foot forward. I am quick to show you pictures of my house when it looks clean and tidy, but not anything like this. I can try to justify this for you...my dishwasher was full, I was tired, Tissy had a bad day with fainting, we were really busy yesterday. But the fact is, when I saw this mess last night as I was heading to bed, I chose to be lazy.

So, in the spirit of keeping it real (thanks Julie). This is what greeted me in the kitchen this morning.

Thanks for keeping it real. It makes us feel a little better about our own messes.

I was actually taking pictures of my kitchen this morning for our blog and thought about how in your picutes the kitchen was always so clean. Now that I've read your blog today, I feel sooo much better!

Okay it's only been a couple of days since I checked your blog and what do I see.. Posts and a lot of them. The last thing I remember was the invitation pillow. My this week has flown by.
Despite the dishes in the sink your counter tops look really good:)

No stress...I always have at least 1 dish in my sink every night. Usually from the cups of milk before bed the late night cookie snack plates. We put 5 colored coasters on the counter, 1 for each person in our family...each person puts their cup on their coaster after they rinse it out. It helps us not use SO many cups throughout the day and it hopefully helps us NOT share germs.

I think I should one up you and take a picture of my bathroom. Well, maybe not :)

I think we're all entitled to a day or two of leaving the dishes for later. The job of a Mom is not always easy. I'd be more worried about your daughter's fainting. I'll have to talk to you more later.

Thanks for being "real" You're a great mom, teacher, wife, and daughter. Have you ever really considered all the "different hats" you wear? So much responsibility to so many different people, places, etc. Love you so much!

Lol. Well, piled up dishes always make me feel like the day before is lingering, in my sink. I hate it but it happens ALL the time. Having a "keeping it real" post is kind of a like E-true Hollywood story in blog world.

I like the idea Susan had of everyone having a coaster for their cup. We go through a lot of cups and I can never remember whose is whose.

You know, when this happens to me the mess I find is so unbelievably repugnant to me (at 5 a.m.) that it really does "cure" me of being lazy the night before.
