I truly have NOTHING to write about

My life seems incredibly boring right now. I can't write about letterboxing (our bag is packed away and I have no idea what box it is in). I can't share a recipe (I am not cooking - unless you call heating up some frozen dish cooking). We are not enjoying the great outdoors (it is too cold to venture out there - I know...we are wimps). We aren't making any lapbooks (don't know where our supplies are). So what else is there to blog about?

I did finally get a calendar this week. Is that blog worthy? I realized I needed to put down a date to get my hair done (let's just say it is looking scary, but at least I didn't cut it myself ~~~click HERE for that story if you haven't read it yet~~~it's a hoot). So, as I was saying, I needed to put a few dates on the calendar and it dawned on me, I have no calendar for 2009. I mean, I could just jot them on post-its and stick them on the cupboard, but I felt as though I needed a calendar. I need some kind of a record of my life this year. Am I the only one who saves old calendars?

So, off I go to the local Target to get a calendar. And silly me...there are none. It is February already and the calendars are sold out. So, I find a weekly planner and decide that maybe that is better for this year. Rather than hanging the calendar on the wall, I will use a planner book. Long story short...I got one at Target for $18 and then I ran next door to the Book Store and found out they were clearancing theirs out for $3 each. I got a cute one and now I must take back the Target one.

All this to say...am I twisted or what? I went back through January and jotted down the things that we did during that month. Just so I could see that we had some sort of activities going on. Not sure why I did it. But it did make me feel a bit better. Kind of like we have a life. =) And if you are wondering...I do add items to my "to do list" after the list is made of things I have already accomplished. So I can then go and cross them off. And I am sure I am NOT the only who does this.

It's good to hear from you even if you think you have nothing to blog about:) I have used a Mary Engebreit planner for at least the last 7 years and I write everything in it and yes I save them all. I even jot down kids' milestones so that if I don't get it into a scrapbook...it is still recorded. I also add things that are already finished to my "todo"list...it still feels great to mark them off!
Congrats on the new house,too!!!

Your NOT the only one..... I do the same thing... if for some reason I didn't write something down... I will and then cross it out.. strange but true:)

Praying that all works out with the house.

You are definitely not the only one who does that! I love a to do list just so I can scratch stuff off. So, I will often add things I've already done that day. And--I also always save old calendars and I will go back and record what we did. I like to have something to reference and see when we did what.

Yes, I also write things on my to-do list even after I've already done them just so that I can cross them off. It makes me feel like I've been productive, and gives me the momentum to get more done.

By the way, with all of your "free time"....READ THOSE BOOKS!!! Ted Dekker's The Circle Trilogy (Black, Red and White). I haven't met a single person who was sorry to have read them. They've really changed the way I view the relationship b/w God and mankind. Black is a little slow getting going (and confusing at first), but then you won't be able to put it down.

My mom has wall calendars dating back to the early 1970's, she writes in them everyday ... they're neat to read. I've tried to follow in her footsteps, but ugh, I just can't seem to do it.

Hard to be in this holding pattern - praise God it will be for only a few more weeks! Thanks for your vulnerability!

We miss you :-). Oh, and it was mid-January before I got my calendar. I had the same revelation you did-I had stuff to write down, but no where to write it. I'm a calendar snob and it must have a pocket so I can put invitations, etc. in it, so I ordered mine online.

I don't write already done things down on a to do list, but I have, at any given time, about 4 to do lists going.

Enjoy this "quiet" time in life. Before you know it, life will be extremely busy again and you'll be trying to figure out how to get it all done. At least for now you have the excuse you can't do it because you have no idea where to find it!

I am so glad to see that almost everyone does that after-the-fact cross-off thing.

I love having a to-do list... I just keep mine in an Excel Spreadsheet instead of on paper, and I change the color of the text instead of crossing them off... I do love "graying-out" my "done" tasks. I know life is odd right now, but soon and very soon we will be settling into a new normal in a new house. I can't wait to have youe homemade bread & pizza again!!! =)

Ha! No - you're not the only one. I will sometimes add just as many things to the list as were there already and those additions are the only things crossed off!

Hey, admired one - you have some "mail" on my blog today.
